A place for vets, vet students and indeed anybody who cares about animals to find out the latest and greatest in veterinary medicine in NZ and around the world.

The Faculty of Veterinary Science has recently undergone one of the most significant changes in it's 30+ year history. The faculty has joined with other faculties, to become the Institute of Veterinary, Animal and Biomedical science. Several other institutes exist and together they have become part of a larger "faculty" called the College of Science. The Institute of Veterinary, Animal and Biomedical science is headed by Professor Grant Guilford, a Massey veterinary graduate specialising in small animal gastro-enterology. The consolidation of faculties may also be happening elsewhere around the university.
The veterinary degree is 5 years in duration, with classes of approximately 100 students. As with other veterinary schools around the world the selection process can be quite arduous. The 100 students are selected from around 250 applicants. These applicants have either completed the veterinary intermediate course (which runs for 13 academic weeks) or are applying as graduates, part-graduates or international students.
The professional portion of the degree is very practical orientated. The new graduate leaving university with a theoretical and practical knowledge base.
